Though some fights can turn violent, it need not come to blows; emotional abuse can destroy your self-confidence and leave you feeling worthless, isolated and vulnerable to more abuse. Counsellors say it is often possible to spot trouble bulding up. BODY LANGUAGE Body language is a key indicator. Finger pointing, arms folded across the body, fidgeting and restlessness are all signs of increased emotion. WORDS Words are also important. Sarcasm and rude, abusive or foul language are a giveaway but you should also look for other clues. These include statements that make him look important and you look small, and angry ultimatums. Always consider that empathy makes a relationship. If he is not listening or not acknowledging or caring about how you feel, that is a danger signal is that this person is not bothered about you.
